Nursing Assistant

Get trained in the basic nursing skills required to provide safe and competent personal care. With an emphasis on person-centered care, you will learn the essential duties of a nursing assistant and ready yourself for a career helping patients lead healthier, happier and more comfortable lives.

Your studies will cover important topics including the aging process, communication, safety/emergencies, infection prevention, legal and ethical issues, vital signs, height and weight measurements, elimination, nutrition, basic restorative care/rehabilitation, dementia, mental health and end-of-life care. Upon completion, you should be eligible and ready to test for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide 1 Registry.

Students will be admitted to Nursing Assistant I by completed application only (Application is currently being reviewed).

  • Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; class space is limited. Application must be complete to turn in.
  • Clinical days/times may involve alternate days and/or extended hours other than those regularly scheduled for class and will involve travel (reliable transportation is necessary).
  • No application will be processed unless it is complete. Incomplete applications will not be returned.

Please bring completed applications to the Continuing Education and Industrial Center at 413 Industrial Park Avenue, Asheboro, NC.

Application deadline is July 31, 2023.

Once your application has been reviewed and you have been accepted into the program, our Workforce Development and Continuing Education Team will contact you with the next steps for registration and payment.

Class is held in the Administrative Education Center on our Asheboro Campus in room AE1B 220/222.

Clinical takes place at various clinical sites.
