Insurance Prelicensing

The North Carolina Department of Insurance announced major changes in the Prelicensing Education effective January 1, 2008. For complete information on all the changes for both Prelicensing and Continuing Education for Insurance Agents in North Carolina, go to the Department's Web site at www.ncdoi.com. Insurance prelicensing information and a candidate guide is available at www.promissor.com.

RCC offers six prelicensing courses

  • Life
  • Accident and Health or Sickness
  • Property
  • Casualty
  • Personal Lines
  • Medicare Supplement/Long-Term Care Agent

*Successful completion of the RCC class is determined by a grade of 80 or better on a final exam given at the end of the course section. That passing grade enables the student to apply to take the state licensure exam given through Promissor (soon to be Pearsonvue). The RCC course fee does not include the state exam and candidate application costs.

For a complete list of all license types, education requirements, and any prelicensing exemptions, review the information at www.ncdoi.com/ASD/LegislativeChangesResources/.
