Drum for Fun & Health I - Japanese Taiko Drumming
($49 + $25 supply fee)Experience the power and exciting rhythms of Japanese "Taiko" drumming. Taiko drumming originated in Japan 2500 years ago and has been popularized in this country for the last 30 years. The student will learn basic rhythms as well as proper playing technique. African rhythms will also be explored. Taiko drumming helps to improve hand-eye coordination, rhythm and mental skills, as well as providing a very good cardiovascular workout. Studies have proven that drumming reduces stress. Men and women are encouraged to join and no previous musical training is required. Drums and hearing protection are provided. Two sets of drum sticks (bachi), bachi bag, music, notebook, DVDs and other supplies are provided for a one-time fee of $25.

($49)Continue your discovery and experience of Japanese "Taiko" and African drumming. Learn new songs and more advanced rhythms. Choreographed hand and arm movements will be perfected. Still drumming for fun, but opportunities for performance will be available to those who are interested. Prerequisite: Drum for Fun I.
