($65 + $43.80 supply and accident liability insurance fee and apx. $85 text; students are required to purchase a uniform, watch and stethoscope)Prepares graduates to provide personal care and perform basic skills in a variety of health care settings. The course includes class, lab, and clinical components. Upon satisfactory completion, the graduate is eligible to test for listing as a Nursing Assistant I on the NC Nurse Aid Registry at the NC Division of Facility Services. Ending date may vary depending on clinical schedules.

Nursing Assistant II
($225)This course prepares graduates to perform more complex skills for patients regardless of setting. Emphasis is on role of the NAII, sterile technique, monitoring and setting up oxygen, wound care, suctioning, tracheostomy care, I.V. fluid setup, monitoring and site care, catheterization, tube feedings, ostomy care, and breakup & removal of fecal impaction. A skills/competency evaluation is required. The course includes classroom, lab, and clinical learning experiences. Prospective students must show proof of high school diploma or GED, current listing as a Nursing Assistant I with the N.C. Division of Facility Services, three months experience as an NAI, current certification in CPR & First Aid, and additional requirements as stated on the application. Will be offered in spring 2009.
