Students will explore ways to arrange transportation to and from work, and will identify strategies for balancing work and family responsibilities.

Basic Customer Service for the Workplace
($55)Students will explore communication styles and how these styles affect how we work with others. Students will become aware of the difference between listening and hearing and will learn how to express ideas and facts orally in a clear and understandable manner. Students will become aware of how they interact with others in ways that are friendly, courteous, and tactful and that demonstrate a professional appearance and positive attitude. Other topics include fielding questions, solving problems and cheerfully responding to customer requests.

Dealing with the Alcoholic in Your Family
($55)This course is designed to help students learn how to recognize problems related to alcohol and other drugs that affect the family. Students will become aware of the community resources and will learn how to identify characteristics of high and low self-esteem, explore positive and negative attitudes/behaviors and will learn how to recognize and develop a positive support system for work and family life.

($55)This course provides employability skills and training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The curriculum framework is designed to help students understand real life economic concepts and economic ways of thinking that will enable them to make better-informed decisions related to their roles as members of the workforce. Topics include, but are not limited to, wage improvement plans, workplace business concepts, and basic economic literacy concepts.

Unemployment: Understanding the Grieving Process
($55)Losing a job is one of the common denominators of life in America: Everyone has lost one or knows someone who did. How do people cope with this particular form of loss? This course is designed to inform students of the concerns and feelings that people often experience after a job loss. Topics covered are the realities of losing a job, why people identify with their jobs, the different ways job loss affects people, understanding the emotions associated with losing a job, finding support, and how to take action to find a new job.
