Computer Literacy Courses
N.C. residents 65 years or older are exempt from registration fees in some classes. Please ask when you register if your class is exempt.

The HRD computer literacy courses are designed as a series of four courses to aid the beginning student in developing a moderate comfort level with computer usage. Students are provided with a good foundation that prepares them for future computer courses.
HRD courses are fee-waived (FREE) to those who are unemployed, have been notified of impending layoff, or meet eligibility requirements.
Technology for Employment Beginner’s($175)
This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults with limited knowledge of technology and its use for and within an employment setting. The curriculum framework and the content of the instructional materials will focus on at least three of the following topics: assessing the individual's technology literacy, understanding and developing a moderate comfort level of basic computer use skills, using technology in developing and implementing job search strategies, researching career and occupational information, compiling and developing employment related documents (resume, cover letters, applications and electronic employment portfolios), accessing governmental and educational resources, understanding the impact of social networking on employment, and emphasizing the role of technology in the workplace.
