Electrician Assistant Certificate Program
($175 + $1.25 fee)
An intensive, daytime class. Prepares individuals for an entry-level general maintenance position responsible for basic troubleshooting of electrically powered equipment. Topics include static electricity, ohm's law, DC circuits, magnetism, alternating and direct currents, indicators, transformers, capacitors, and electronic components. Provides instruction on the principles of electrical wiring as it applies to commercial/ residential applications. Emphasis is on ohm's law, alternating and direct currents, series circuits, parallel circuits and series parallel circuits, use of electrical tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Course includes some preparation for the Electrical Contractor's Licensing examination for the state of North Carolina. Upon completion, students will have a basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronic logic.

Electrical Contractor's License Renewal
According to Title 21 of the N.C. Administrative Code - Chapter 18B - Section .1100, "... qualified individuals ... shall complete eight contact hours of approved continuing education for each license period ..." These courses meet the requirements of the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors for 8 contact hours of continuing education credit. They are not sponsored by the Board. All of the N.C. Code Officials Standard Courses are approved as License Renewal credit for Electrical Contractors. Between 8 and 24 hours of credit can be earned for completion of 80% of the Code Classes. See the Code Section below for a schedule of the Code Inspector courses.
Analysis of Changes-2011 NEC by the LAEI Preparation

North Carolina Code Officials Standard Courses
Participants will have a better understanding of the Electrical Code of the North Carolina State Building Code and will be able to apply the Code in the inspection field. With the successful completion of these courses in conjunction with other education and experience requirements specified by the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board, course participants will be eligible to take the state examinations for inspector certification. All Code Enforcement Officials/Inspectors must take an approved CE course. The Standard Code courses may be used to fulfill this requirement with 12 credit hours being earned. Participants must complete 80% of the course attendance but are not required to take the final exam.
Electrical Level I Standard Inspection Course
($120 + $1.25 fee)
This course is designed for the education and training of the Electrical Level I code enforcement official who has the responsibility of inspecting residential and small commercial electrical installations in construction up to 20,000 square feet in size.

This course covers the basic hardware of a personal computer, including installation, operations and interactions with software. Topics include component identification, memory-system, peripheral installation and configuration, preventive maintenance, installation and optimization of system software, commercial programs, system configuration, and device-drivers. Upon completion, students should be able to select appropriate computer equipment and software and maintain existing equipment and software. Students should be ready for the next class on troubleshooting / repair.
