Career Readiness Certification
ASHEBORO (January 18, 2007) –The Human Resources Development program and JobLink Career Center located at Randolph Community College have already issued over 600 Career Readiness Certifications, according to Michelle Cole, director of the HRD program. “This is a JobLink Workforce Development Training Initiative that has the attention of North Carolina employers,” she said.
The Career
Readiness Certification (CRC) is a portable record of work skills.
The training and assessment of abilities are based on reading, locating information
in charts and graphs, and math. There are three levels of certification: Bronze
level, Silver level and Gold level. This record enables workers to show their
current skill levels to potential employers and increase their opportunities
for employment. In Randolph County so far, 59% of those who have completed
the CRC training have earned the Silver level, 28% have earned their Bronze
level, while 13% have earned their Gold level.
In addition to the basic Career Readiness Certification training, Randolph Community College has developed a Career Readiness Certification Plus (CRC+). This certification focuses on career skills such as work habits, communication, workplace effectiveness and business etiquette. Local employers have stated they prefer to hire employees who have these skills in addition to the basic Career Readiness Certification skills, noted Cole.
The Career Readiness Certificate is transferable to other states, as this is a national initiative to strengthen the workforce in America. “A well trained workforce is good for Randolph County and helps employers know we want them to conduct their business here,” Cole concluded. For more information on how you can earn your CRC and CRC+, please call the JobLink Career Center at 633-0304 or Michelle Cole at 633-0278.
