Randolph Community College has had the opportunity to work successfully
with many new companies as they have established operations in Randolph
County. Some of these include Goodyear, Greenfield Industries (formerly
Cleveland Twist Drill), The Timken Company, Knorr Best Foods, Wayne Steel
(now Metals USA), and Ornamental Mouldings. In all cases we have continued
a close relationship with these companies and have provided training on
a regular basis to upgrade or develop needed skills several years after
the start up training was completed.
Focused Industrial Training
Focused Industrial Training is a special training program designed to
serve special needs of North Carolinas manufacturing industries.
The focus of courses offered through FIT is on critical skills that change
as technology changes. Customized instruction is directed toward skilled
and semi-skilled production workers, industrial maintenance workers, and
leaders of personnel who perform industrial processes. Through individualized
needs assessments and consultations, Randolph Community College can design
and implement targeted, customized training for organizations that need
to upgrade workers skills because of technological or process advances.
Highly qualified instructors conduct classes at convenient times for you
and your employees either at your work site or at RCCs Asheboro
Campus or Archdale Campus.

Curriculum Programs
Randolph Community College provides training for businesses and industries
through its college credit (Curriculum) course offerings. Your employees
may enroll in any one of a variety of credit programs that will meet
your training needs. RCC also will customize credit course offerings
to better meet your needs. Following are some examples.
The departmental chairman of RCCs Mechanical & Industrial
Department worked with managers at Energizer to develop a program
for maintenance trainees. This involved enrolling Energizer employees
in selected courses from RCCs Machining Technology, Industrial
Maintenance Technology, and Electrical/Electronics Technology programs.
Approximately twelve employees from Goodyear are currently enrolled
in RCCs Electrical/ Electronics Technology program working toward
a diploma. Because these employees work on twelve-hour shifts, RCC
has adjusted the class schedule to accommodate them. The students
attend class for 8 hours on their days off.
Technimark, Knorr Best Foods, and Ramtex have developed registered
apprenticeship programs for their maintenance personnel and have selected
certain courses out of RCCs Industrial Maintenance Technology
program as the basic educational component.
Employees from The Timken Company have enrolled in select courses
from Machining Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Electrical/Electronics
Technology. |
