Summary of RCC’s Reaffirmation of Accreditation Process
Our accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), requires its member institutions to complete a Reaffirmation process periodically to ensure that the institution maintains compliance with the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement and the policies of the Commission on Colleges.
There are two main elements of the Reaffirmation Process: the Compliance Certification document, which will show the College’s compliance with the Core Requirements, Comprehensive Standards, and Federal Requirements, and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), which is a focused plan on enhancing student learning. Through a process of self-evaluation, these documents will be prepared and submitted to SACS in 2009.
Time line of Important Dates in the Process:
- March 2009: Compliance Certification Document due to SACS
- May 2009: Off-Site Review of Compliance Certification
- July 2009: Quality Enhancement Plan due to SACS
- Sept. – Nov. 2009: SACS On-Site Review (QEP)
- June 2010: Review by Commission on Colleges to Reaffirm RCC’s Accreditation Status
